As part of the Department of Water Resources’ annual maintenance program, the Coastal Branch Pipeline of the State Water Project was offline from October 2025 through March 2026. The City remained off the system slightly longer than the scheduled shutdown to help preserve our State Water allocation and ensure we have adequate supply available through the upcoming summer months. Managing our allocation carefully is important given the uncertainty around future water allotments, and staff continue to operate our water resources and infrastructure in a way that meets community demand while protecting long-term supply.
With State Water now back online, you may notice the water is slightly softer than what you experienced during the maintenance period. Because of this, some residents may want to adjust their water softeners. Helpful water quality information can be found in the City’s 2024 Consumer Confidence Report (CCR), which is available on the City’s website: https://www.cityofsolvang.com/DocumentCenter/View/5900/2024-Consumer-Confidence-Report.
We also want to thank the community for your continued efforts to conserve water and help protect our shared natural resources. Please continue conserving where possible, and if you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
