[ARCHIVED] State Water Annual Maintenance Shut Down

As part of the Department of Water Resources annual maintenance program the Coastal Branch Pipeline of the State Water Project will be shut down in November 2018 for routine repairs and maintenance.  Therefore, deliveries of State Water to the City of Solvang will be shut down beginning Friday, November 2, 2018 through Tuesday, November 19, 2018.

What does this mean to me as a water user in Solvang?

Most water users will notice no change.  Instead of an 80/20 blend of State Water to local water you will be receiving 100% local water.  Local water is known for being harder and having a different taste (some like it better).  If you have a water softening unit, to achieve the same soft-water the softening unit may have to be adjusted for the harder water.  Glasses coming out of the dishwasher may have a slight white cloudy look to them due to hard water deposits.

The water you receive will continue to meet the same quality standards.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
